Items
of Note:
PAYROLL NOTE: There have been so many calls and emails asking about pay it is
easier to tell everyone this way.
HOW IT WORKS - Payroll is paid monthly - for everyone not just officials. The payroll
is submitted to the payroll service (PayChex again starting this
month) on the first work day
of the month. The checks are returned to the office on the next
day and are mailed out. Those that have direct deposit are sent
a stub, everyone else gets a check. The checks/direct deposit
are not payable until the 5th of the month. There is a two day
window
between submitting the payroll and the funding to cover them
- that is why we make the payroll payable on the 5th of the
month. If a
tournament happens on the very last days of the month there is
a good chance that the pay for that tournament will be held over
until the next month due to the time it takes for the pay to
be reported to the office/Peter and the turnaround of the payroll
for officials
coming from Peter. It takes too long to get the reports and add
them to
the payroll spreadsheet and input the payroll to include them on the
payroll submitted because there is a time deadline on the first
to submit the payroll.
NOTE: 2010 Rule Interpretation #1 - Regarding: Libero Serving, Completed Rally Interpretations,
Net Contact & Penetration Rules, Sub Procedures & Time Out Requests was distributed by USAV on Feb 22. Please read over the interpretations before
you work your next tournament.
1. Lead
referee be sure to print out Lead Instructions and Official's Tournament Report and Pay Sheet and take it with you to the site. NOTE the Officials Tournament Report and Pay
Sheet has been revised as of 2/10/10. Please print off
new forms and use those as we are asking for more detailed
information to plan for the future and to take care of
specific issues.
2. Attention Lead Referees and Officials:
Several of the Clubs will be using "PINNIES" (colored
vests) which may make it harder to see the player # on the jersey, but they will
make it much easier to identify the libero on the court. These players will be
identified by their # on the lineup sheet. When they enter the court via 'legal
Libero exchange', they will be identified with the "L" just as if the number was visible. Please share this with all participants at
the Coach's meeting!
3.
Discuss the new Electronics Policy in the Coach's
meeting. No electronics of any kind at the score table or on
the person of any member of the officiating crew
-
including the coach. Please read over the Electronics Policy, Roster Requirement and Shared Reffing Requirement. to familarize yourself with these new items.
4. New rules changes for the 2010 season - net rules and sub rules are the most significant.
5.
Rosters are required to be checked by the official at each match.
The roster check can happen during the warm up period so as not
to take any additional time. All teams have now been processed. Players and coaches that are still "In Process" on the roster AFTER March 1st are not eligible to participate until their USAV
number has been issued.
6. For those formats that are shared reffing we are now requiring both teams
to be at the Ref Crew Meeting before the first set.
7. There
is NO pursuit rule in AZ tournaments - not for adults or juniors - even if there is
room
ADOT is working on the roads - everywhere. For Road Closure or restriction information check this website: www.az511.com The directions we give to our sites do not include any road restriction, construction
or closure information. Please check this each weekend before you
head out to the site.
In the event of an emergency and you can't fulfill your assignment please call Peter Meyer 928-380-1491 Immediately!!!!
