2010 Season is upon us

The 2010 Arizona Region Adult tournament season is just around the corner. Teams are signing up now. The first tournament is Sunday, Jan 10th in Tucson. A score/ref clinic will precede the tournament. A member of the AZ Region office staff will be at each site to receive membership and team registrations for the first tournament only. It is requested that those forms be submitted to the Region office prior but they will be accepted on site at the first tournament only. An email to the office expressing your interest to play in the first tournament is required if you plan to play but bring the paperwork to the first tournament. We are securing courts for the Jan 10th tournament now as the schools will be closed for two weeks and we will not be able to add any courts to our tournament until they reopen Jan 4th.

Adult players that are also registered with a Junior Club do not need to re-register but should be included on the Adult Team Registration form so we know they belong to the adult team.

Forms needed to register an Adult team -

For the Individual - For the Team Rep -
2010 AZ Region Membership Form ($40)   Team Registration Form ($55/ team)
    Adult Tournament Agreement
Individual Tournament Entry Form ($150/tournament due 10 days prior)

Player Pool

New for 2010 is a Player Pool of free agent players that may not be able to commit to a full season of play or have not found a permanent home of a team. The players in the Player Pool may be used twice by the same or different teams. After that the player is no longer able to be used unless they become a part of the team. Players must be registered members of the AZ Region for the current season to be placed in the pool.

2010 Open Nationals to be held in Phoenix, AZ

USA Volleyball has selected Phoenix for the 2010 Open National Championships. The tournament will be held from May 29th - June 5, 2010 in two sessions. First session (May 29 - June 1) - Divisions: Open, AA, A, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, Coed Regular, Coed Reverse, Special Olympics National Unified. Second Session (June 2 - 5) - Divisions: BB, B, 45's, 55's, 65's, 75's. The pre-tournament manual is now available on the USAV Website.

The Region deadlines to enter are as follows:

Division Region Deadline Cost - unknown if changed
Open Division March 12th $1250
U-Volley & Co-Ed March 12th $475
Seniors 60, 65, 75 March 12th $900
Seniors Women's 65 + & Men's 70 + March 12th $475
Club Division (AA, A, BB, B) March 25th $900
Masters & Seniors (40, 45, 50, 55) March 25th $900

Remember that a deadline is the LAST day to enter. You may enter anytime from January through the deadline. It is advised to get your entry materials in as soon as possible so that we can submit them early rather than just one week from the deadline.

This deadline means all entry into the AES System (Advanced Event Systems) must be complete and the entry form and fees are in the office. This gives us one week to verify all info and forward on to USA Volleyball before the actual tournament entry deadline. Please make sure to keep copies of everything that you submit and take it all with you to check in at the tournament. Make sure when you print anything off that the date it was printed is on the paper so that it can be verified. This is always an issue at check in if you have added players after the initial entry and can cost you money if you don't have proof - make sure to also update the tournament roster in the system with the new players added so that they show up on the tournament side. New this year for Seniors, U-Volley and Co-Ed teams - if only 4 teams register by the early deadline, each team will be contacted to see if they want to compete in a 4-team tournament without the designation of a national champion, team/individual awards and recognition. Therse criteria will be applied only to those qualifying tournaments that are 5 years old or less. There is a possibility that the tournament days and the fees will be reduced accordingly.

Enter Online through Advanced Event Systems
